About Golf Course Magazine (GCM)
Golf Course Magazine (GCM) is the official publication of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA). The magazine serves golf course superintendents, turfgrass professionals, and industry leaders by delivering insights on course management, turf science, environmental stewardship, and industry trends. GCM combines technical expertise with practical guidance to help professionals maintain high-quality playing conditions while managing the operational and environmental challenges of modern golf facilities.
Website Redesign
Golf Course Magazine’s website was an outdated Adobe Flash “page-flip” experience that simply replicated the print magazine online. It was not optimized for modern devices, difficult to maintain, and limited the editorial team’s ability to publish timely content or manage advertising effectively.
The redesign shifted the site from a static digital magazine to a dynamic content platform. Working with the development team, we implemented a custom content-scraping workflow that allowed editors to aggregate and publish articles through the Sitefinity CMS. The new platform enabled flexible article publishing, improved ad placement and management, and a more accessible reading experience across devices.
Role
Led design facilitation and front-end implementation across a large stakeholder group. The project required navigating significant “design by committee” dynamics while aligning editorial, advertising, and technical needs.
Primary responsibilities included:
 • Facilitating design discussions and presenting concepts to cross-functional stakeholders
• Developing wireframes and iterating through multiple design revisions
• Creating the project style guide and visual system
• Implementing the front-end using HTML, CSS, and jQuery
• Establishing the site’s initial organic SEO foundation within Sitefinity CMS
